As a species we have only evolved scientifically and technologically.

Otherwise we have not progresses at all from a primitive tribal mentality whereby the groups/tribes we identify with are all that matters. Group/tribal identity is the dominant factor in societies superseding an overall national identity.

Also, thinking rationally is not an option for ideologues. A study in 2008 found a genetic influence in choosing our political affiliations. This is dramatically demonstrated by people who swear by communism even though it has proven to be an unmitigated disaster in all its manifestations. How could that be unless there was a genetic predisposition cementing you to the extreme left?
